Hey Everybody!

Just a quick note of thanks for our last Mass.  You were AWESOME!   Mad crazy props to everyone!

How many would be available to participate in an Interfaith service
sponsored by the Springfield Ministerium at St. Francis on
NOVEMBER 24 at 7:30 PM?  (the day before Thanksgiving)

I am available and I want to know how many of you could be there.  I need to know your availability by Sept. 29/30 so that those planning this event may plan accordingly.  We would only do a few songs and the service is about an hour long.  Get back to me quickly with you answer.  I would love to do it but we need fair amount of Revelation members to make it happen!

This weekend

Hey!  I hope school is treating you well.  Just a quick note about this weekend.

I will be at the church this Saturday morning around 10 am for anyone who may want to run through some of the music for Sunday.  I will block out at least an hour or so to do that.  All are welcomed and we will do what we can with whoever can make it.

On Sunday, we will start gathering at 3 instead of 4 to give a a few extra minutes to prepare for the first Mass of the year.  Please get there as soon as you can because we are going to go through everything Parts of Mass and Music!  If we get done early you will have some downtime before Mass starts.

Trumpet players all of your music including parts of Mass are in my box.  I put it in blue folders marked trumpet so make sure you get ALL the music.  Some of it may be loose but the parts of Mass are in the binder in the folder.  BE CAREFUL WITH KEY SIGNATURES!  Put in fingerings and what ever else will help you to play it well.  Remember, Rome was not built in a day.  Do as much as you can, the best you can. It's the first Mass so be patient.

Please bring any one who may be interested in joining our group to Mass so they can see us first hand.  For those new members please wear a Navy blue shirt (t shirt or sweatshirt) until we are able to get more Revelation T-shirts.

I think that is all for now.  Feel free to email me with any comments or questions.

Peace and love,

Derrick

It's that time!

Hey everyone.  Please check my box for music.  Some should be there and I will be dropping more off by the end of the week.  Trumpet players your music is not there yet because I haven't had the time to transpose it yet.  I will email you once it is there.

I left music to be copied so it should be there.  Here are the titles.

Trading My Sorrows (Darrell Evans)
Create A clean Heart (Tom Booth)
Come, Now is the Time To Worship (Brian Doerksen)
Here I Am (also T. Booth)
The Face of God (Ed Boulduc)

If you have access to a recording of these songs, listen to them.  I am guessing that most have plans for the holiday weekend so practice this weekend on Sunday probably would not work.  Please let me know if I am wrong with that assumption!

However I am looking forward to Saturday Sept. 11 at 10 AM to rehearse.  Please let me know if you cannot make it at that time.  If you feel another time is better, let me know.  We could do it later on Saturday or Friday evening because with everyone going back to school our options are limited.

Also over the next few days, I will be dropping off a CD of some music that I would like to do this year.  I will leave a few copies in my box.  Sign it out and listen\copy it so you have some reference to draw from when songs are selected for Mass!

Revelation of St. Francis

Hello everyone, old school people, current school people and to the new school folks.  It is Derrick, your friendly neighborhood music director!  Hope everyone is having a peaceful and relaxing summer.  It is almost over so enjoy the last bit of it because your nose will be deep into a text book way too soon.

To our members who have moved on to college or work, again thank you for your contribution to our group and keep your Life Teen experience close at heart and continue to keep Christ first in all that you do!  There is always an open invite for you to worship with us throughout the year during your breaks if you feel so moved.  Also, if you wish not to receive these emails anymore, drop me a line and I will be happy to take you off the list.  Last thing for the old school, may Christ continue to lead and guide you through all of your new experiences this year.  All the best!

To the current and new schoolers....  I am writing to make sure I have updated email addresses for everyone who wants to be part of our group this year.  If your are on the list and wish not to participate, please drop me an email and you will be taken off!  If your email address is changing or has/will change let me know ASAP so I can make the corrections on my list.

Our first Life Teen Mass is on September 12, 2004.  Put it on the calendar now as well as the second Sunday in October and November.  A full schedule for the year will be out soon.  GET YOUR DATE BOOKS NOW BECAUSE I WANT TO HAVE THE GROUP TOGETHER AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.

Last year attendance was not consistent.  We rarely had the same group from month to month.  I would like for that to change this year.  I understand that you have busy lives and things will come up.  However if we can keep those episodes down to a minimum this year, we have the potential to be awesome!

Music for the first Mass will be announced this week and will be available for practice shortly thereafter.

There was mention of doing a Sunday afternoon/evening rehearsal on an off Sunday.  I am all for it if we have the commitment from the group to get reasonable attendance and all the parts (rhythm section) necessary to have an effective rehearsal.  This is something I want you to think about and we can discuss it.

Thought/discussion questions, What does Revelation mean to you?  The church?  To Life Teen?  Where do you see the group at the end of the year?  What do you want the group to be?

You may think about these questions and discussed them with each other and let me know what you think.

That's it for now.  Please make sure I get the correct info right away.  Even if I have your correct info please write me back to let me know that it is correct.  If I never hear from you than I don't know.  I need to know that all of you can get info via email because this is the fastest way to connect with everybody.

Here's to another wonderful year of Life Teen and Revelation!!!

Peace,

Go Eagles!

Derrick

The 2004-05 dates for Life Teen Masses are:

bulletSept 12
Oct 10
Nov 14

A full schedule for the year will be out soon.

PLEASE MARK THESE DATES IN YOUR CALENDARS, ON YOUR WALLS, IN YOUR LOCKERS or wherever you look on a regular basis so you do not forget. Hopefully everyone will be able to make all of the dates but if for some reason you are unable to make the Mass, email, call, send a post card, sky-write it, just let me know so we can adjust!

Remember Life Teen Mass starts at 6:30 PM on the second Sunday of the month (unless otherwise noted). Mass days, we will rehearse from 4:30 PM TO 6 to prepare ourselves for the Mass.

Also plan for a short rehearsal on Saturdays before the Mass. Last year we would meet at 10 am and go for as long as we needed. I am flexible with times. If there is another time or day you would like where more people could be involved I am all for it. Just let me know. We can take the group to the next level with more rehearsal, however we will have to find a good time for everyone because we are competing with sports, music, drama, work, etc

If anyone has any concerns or questions about anything please feel free to email or call at any time. I am here to help you in any way I can.

Also I need to do an up-to date mailing address/email/phone list.  Please send me your info - I want to compile a list so that we can reach each other by any means necessary.  If you don't feel comfy sending email, give it to me next time you see me.

Peace and Love,
In Christ

Derrick
